Get Started with ShellRoom
ShellRoom helps you run terminal-based online training sessions. Quickly set up a training environment on any Linux server. Start the session and share the link with your participants so they can log in through a web terminal. Trainers can provide assistance, monitor participant status, and chat with participants.
Features
- Get Help: No more stuck participants! Participants can request help. Trainers will see this and can attach to the participant’s screen to provide assistance.
- Browse Users: No more “staring into the void.” Check on how your participants are following along.
- No Terminal Size Woes: When browsing participants with large terminal sizes, you will see the relevant section of the screen.
- Terminal Chat: Chat with participants right next to the problematic commands.
- Activity Pane: See who is online, when the last activity occurred, and terminal sizes.
- Signaling: See who needs help, who is being helped, or who left an unseen chat message.
- Marking: Add marks to your participants, for example, for completed exercises. Set via the CLI for automated marks.
- Integrated File Server: Participants can open files created during the training directly in their browsers, with live reloading of images (e.g., updated plots).
- Optimized Web Terminal: The web terminal is adapted to work well with the training environment.
- Global Edge Network: The web terminal is served from a suitable edge between your server and the participants to minimize latencies.
- End-to-end Encryption: All data is E2E encrypted, so our servers cannot see what is happening on the terminals.
